Mr. Scott Nichols, Asst. Principal

Mr. Scott Nichols, Assistant Principal

Hello everyone!! My name is Scott Nichols, and I am extremely excited to be a part of Hernando Elementary. I am originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas and graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor's in education and a master's in educational leadership. During my time at ASU, I was a member of the golf team for 3 ½ years. This will be my 19th year in education, I have taught in Texas (4 years), Arkansas (12 years), and Mississippi (2 years). I started my teaching career as a K-5 PE teacher and loved every minute of it! I also spent my time in the classroom teaching history/geography at the middle school level. Before coming to Desoto County schools two years ago I was an Asst. Principal for four years at the K-2 level. I spent 12 years coaching about every sport offered, but my main sport was girls' basketball.

My wife Kim and I got married October 2022 and have been together for about 4 years. We have four kids between us, Alyssa (SPED teacher in Arkansas), Savannah (senior in college), Nicholas (just graduated from Northwest HVAC program), and Sophie who will be a sophomore at Hernando High. I enjoy playing golf, watching movies, and spending time with my family.

I am blessed to be a part of the Tiger Cub family and look forward to working with the faculty, families and students of this great school!! Go Tigers!!
